Bedroom Makeover Inspiration

March 22, 2017

BEDROOM MAKEOVER!  This bedroom is a wonderful space with the skylight, angled ceilings, great natural light and lots of square footage!  As you can see in the before photo above this room was all beige and lacked character.  Due to the angle of the stairs the bed frame couldn’t fit up the stairs so the clients were sleeping on a mattress on the floor. o update The goal of this bedroom makeover was to add in some elements that made it feel more like a master bedroom while sticking to a modest budget. Inspiration boards are a great place to start, it really helps to create a vision for the room and can keep you on track when shopping for items. It’s easy to have a vision, but unless you are clear and create a vision board or a list of what you want it’s easy to spend way more than you intended.  The starting point for this room was the beautiful Pendleton blanket, it was a gift from the husband to the wife when they first moved in together.

Above is the photo that was the inspiration for the bedroom makeover!  I saw this and loved the wood against the dark wall.  Since the bed is in front of a window, the dark wall is a great solution to define the bed. A feature wall using paint or wallpaper is a great alternative to a headboard! We are not going to introduce all the elements in this photo, but it is a good jumping off point.  Try to find inspiration photos that are laid out in a similar fashion to the room you will be making over.

We are making over this room on a budget. Let’s look at what the client wants to spend.  To paint, decorate and add in elements like the wall lamps we are looking to spend around $400.  I know this is a small budget. By making smart choices and keep track of each piece we want to buy this is definitely possible! See some items below, they are all in an affordable price range for a room makeover.

3 Ways to Get Organized The budget office storage 3 Ways to Get Organized

The budget office storage was revealed last week, so let's talk organization! This was the key to the storage closet. Everything has a place and there should be minimal clutter.
It becomes pretty frustrating when we constantly have to look for items we want to use. Getting organized not only creates less clutter, it saves you time!
1. Throw away items you no longer use - I know it seems straight forward, but sometimes it can be difficult. This closet previously housed a lot of junk that was no longer needed.

2. Use storage containers - Image if all the contents of those baskets were simply stacked in each shelf, it would feel very disorganized. Baskets are a small investment to help you get organized.

3. Create a labeling system - Whether you have a label maker or purchase labels or make these DIY paper lables I made, labels are key to being organized.

Do you remember what this closet looked like before? Swipe right to see. ➡️ It wasn't pretty. Now all of the craft supplies, paper, cords, wrapping etc have a place to be stored. The baskets create a clean look and keep this space clutter free.
I don't what to pick a favorite but I think this little closet makeover is one of my favorite budget room makeovers. More photos over on the blog.
